1. Scope of Service
O’Neill Medico-Legal provides independent psychiatric assessments and expert medico-legal reports for use in legal proceedings. We do not offer treatment services or accept referrals for psychiatric treatment from private individuals.
2. Referral and Instruction
All referrals must be made by legal professionals, occupational health organisations, or authorised third parties. Full details of the case, including relevant documentation, must be provided in advance of the assessment.
3. Confidentiality and Data Protection
All client information is handled in strict accordance with data protection legislation and professional ethical standards. Reports and assessments are shared only with the referring party unless otherwise required by law or court order. For full details, please see our Privacy Policy.
4. Appointments and Cancellations
Appointments must be confirmed in writing. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice may incur a cancellation fee. Non-attendance without notice will result in the full fee being charged.
5. Fees and Payment
Fees for medico-legal assessments and reports will be provided in a written quotation or Terms of Engagement prior to the commencement of work. Payment terms are due on completion of the report unless otherwise agreed.
6. Use of Reports
Medico-legal reports provided by O’Neill Medico-Legal are intended solely for use in the legal proceedings specified at the time of instruction. Reports may not be used for any other purpose without written consent.
7. Expert Independence
All reports and opinions are provided independently and in accordance with the duties of an expert witness. O’Neill Medico-Legal operates in line with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and associated guidance.
8. Liability
While every effort is made to ensure the accuracy and reliability of assessments and reports, O’Neill Medico-Legal accepts no liability for any loss or damages arising from the use of the information provided, beyond that required by law.
